Resident Evil DS
Capcom brings the survival horror genre to the portable level with a DS version of its classic.
Posted by Chris Barnett - GameCube,Game Boy Advance - UK and Europe

Capcom has unveiled a new version of its Resident Evil series for the Nintendo DS! This could be seen as a strange move as the upcoming Resident Evil 5 has not been mentioned for the Revolution yet. Aside from the initial shock of the announcement it seems that the game will be called Resident Evil: Deadly Silence.

The initial screenshots of the game make it look as if it is yet another remake of the original game in the series, with the inclusion of a first person view. We are unsure about the actual content of the game as the only screenshots released are surrounded by Japanese text, courtesy of popular Japanese magazine, Famitsu.

Unlike the GameCube version, the graphics appear as though they have been kept true to the original, which is quite fair considering the difference in power between the GameCube and the DS. Since we don't know that much about the game, it is too early to start griping about lazy remakes as it could surprise us by offering many new modes, especially due to the possibilities created by the touch screen.

For the first time in a game you could actually touch a zombie, surely every gamer's guilty secret.
