28th October 2002:
Europe to get Xbox-Sega bundle
Microsoft have announced their Christmas Xbox deal - how does a console and two games for £160 sound?
Posted by Marc Hull - Xbox - UK and Europe

Microsoft today announced the deal that they hope will shift units of their Xbox console this Christmas. From the 1st November, you'll be able to pick up the Sega Christmas Pack, which consists of the Xbox, Jet Set Radio Future and Sega GT 2002, all for a measly £159.99, which is currently the cost of the console alone! "It's very gratifying that Xbox has chosen Sega titles to include as part of this offer," said Naoya Tsurumi, President/COO, Sega Europe. "Sega GT 2002 and Jet Set Radio Future both take advantage of the unique properties of Xbox to deliver fantastic gaming experiences, and we’re pleased that even more gamers will get to experience these great titles."

Microsoft hopes that this bundle will put more Xboxes on people's Christmas lists, propelling it above the competition. The GameCube currently retails at £130 making it the cheapest of the three contenders, and the release of Super Mario Sunshine has already boosted sales close to the holiday season. Meanwhile, the PlayStation 2 costs £170 with no games, making it by far the most expensive console around at the moment, but its large back-catalogue of games and general marketting muscle has still managed to secure Sony large sales.
