Black and White 2 is so dated
The sequel to Lionhead's over ambitious god game gets a release date and some new shots that suggest that it will be special this time.

The long awaited sequel to the overly ambitious Black and White has finally been dated for both America and Europe. This is quite surprising considering that this is roughly the originally predicted release date; Lionhead having an infamous reputation for missing the dates by up to two years.

Black and White 2 will be released in America on 30th of September and in the UK on 7th October. The press statement from Lionhead states that "This is official, we are almost finished" to remove any speculation that the announcement was simply publicity seeking.

To accompany the announcement, a new collection of screenshots have been released and they do look quite impressive in their natural appearance. These shots can be seen at the bottom of this article so you can check out the sweetness yourself.

Lionhead boss, Peter Molyneux has already stated that the game will be very different from the original, the only similarity being in the setting. The new game will offer more realistic dilemmas and a greater emphasis on real-time strategy. The collection of new creatures will be less significant to those of the first game, but with much more subtle usage encouraged. This can clearly be seen by the choice of Lionhead's new screenshots - none of them feature a creature!

The game could be the highlight of the PC releases this year as only FEAR seems to be showing commercial promise and critical attention. We will let you know much more when we get a chance to actually play the game when a promised demo is released.
