12th September 2005:
Party like it's 1980!
Singstar ' 80s will have all those mediocre hits flooding around your head once again. 99 Red Balloons, anyone?
Posted by Chris Barnett - PlayStation 2 - UK and Europe

Sony is set to release a 1980s version of its popular Singstar series of games. This may seem an unusual announcement initially, but when you consider that most of the current gamers actually grew up alongside the 80s music scene, it is not such a bad choice.

As many players will agree, the tacky nature of songs actually improves any karaoke event or game. So the collection of 1980s tracks should allow people to mutter as if they were undergoing a childhood regression, without resulting to playing a retro game.

The full track listing is as follows:
Alice Cooper: Poison
Belinda Carlisle: Heaven Is A Place On Earth
Billy Joel: Uptown Girl
Blondie: Atomic
Culture Club: Karma Chameleon
Dexy's Midnight Runners: Come On Eileen
Dolly Parton: Nine To Five
Duran Duran: Rio
Erasure: A Little Respect
Europe: The Final Countdown
Fairground Attraction: Perfect
Foreigner: I Want To Know What Love Is
Frankie Goes To Hollywood: The Power Of Love
Kate Bush: Running Up That Hill
Katrina And The Waves: Walking On Sunshine
Madness: Our House
Madonna: Material Girl
Marillion: Kayleigh
Nena: 99 Red Balloons
Run DMC: It's Tricky
Simple Minds: Don't You (Forget About Me)
Soft Cell: Tainted Love
Starship: We Built This City
Survivor: Eye Of The Tiger
Tears For Fears: Everybody Wants To Rule The World
The Cure: Just Like Heaven
The Pretenders: Brass In Pocket
Tina Turner: Simply The Best
Vanilla Ice: Ice Ice Baby
Wham!: Wake Me Up Before You Go Go

As you can see, many of these would make an ideal sing along without the embarrassment of actually owning the tracks.

The game was actually released in 1989, no just kidding, it is out on the 4th of November, so get those old records out of the attic and brush up on your 'Suggs' voice.
