Suffering on the big screen
The Suffering will be slaughtering your local cinema staff as it gets set to become a movie.
Posted by Chris Barnett - PlayStation 2,Xbox,PC - UK and Europe

The latest in the trend of 'game to film' adaptations appears to be The Suffering as Midway has sold the rights to MTV Films.

The game should make a perfect translation to the MTV Film archive as it is both controversial and frightening at the same time. But the actual plot has yet to be announced, especially as it may feature elements that could spoil the upcoming The Suffering: Ties That Bind in terms of story and characters.

The game was actually famed for its gore and distasteful nature, as well as its striking enemy design. So it is welcome news that the special effects will be handled by the veteran effects man, Stan Winston. Winston has previously worked on 'The Terminator' and the upcoming 'Doom' movie, which we wait for with a smile following a glimpse of the trailer.

With this nature of games becoming films it seems as though every decent game can become a big screen player. It is just a shame that we have not witnessed a true classic yet, and we don't anticipate The Suffering or Doom to buck this trend anytime soon. I suppose you could be optimistic and claim that 'Titanic' was based on Dizzy's Treasure Island on the Commodore 64…
