Controlling the Revolution
Looking vaguely like a television remote the new idea in control is unveiled by Nintendo.

Whilst not much is known currently about the actual
Revolution
console itself, Nintendo have released images and details about the joypad that they hope will provide the impetus for a truly unique gaming experience.
The styling is strongly that of a remote control unit for the television, a deliberate choice as the familiarity it offered was immense. Nintendo head honcho, Satoru Iwata remarked "
Its intuitive form allows both experienced and new gamers to stand on the same starting line,
" during his address at the Tokyo Game Show. The wireless controller also has been designed so that the backwards compatibility expected in the Revolution will be enhanced, with selections of featured making it easier to play older games from the N64, SNES and NES. There is also added flexibility for developers in that they can use as little or as few of the functions they desire. There is also an add on unit that provides the normal analog stick for more traditional gaming but for the first time there looks to be a genuine joypad that will be useable to left and right handed players equally.
Lastly the other major point that was made was that since it is a wireless analog system, it can sense where in relation to the Revolution it is, allowing for unique styles of gameplay - now you can swing that sword in order to fight your opponent and other such things.
As yet no firm date has been given for the Nintendo Revolution's launch but it is expected sometime in 2006.
