In the second announcement from the new Kojima Productions, Metal Gear Ac!d 2 has been given a much more interesting description and set of features.
Whilst the game maintains its card playing premise, it adds a new feature to not only the series, but also to the PSP itself. The imaginatively titled 'Solid Eye' is a peripheral that looks like a set of early 90s VR goggles, but with added style. The aim of the goggles is to add a pseudo three dimensional appearance to the game, without altering the gameplay at all.
So many game that have used gimmicks in the past have done so at the expense of the gameplay or style, but here the three dimensions are being 'latched onto' the existing game style to create a more involving experience.
As you can see from the screenshots, the characters are almost bold in appearance due to the nature of their representation in the game. The possibilities that this could add to the game are numerous; depth perception stealth, real facial contours and 'hidden' background items are all possibilities.
The Solid Eye will come packaged with the game, but has no set release date yet. Whether this will add to the cost of the game significantly is uncertain, as is the possible future implementation of the device. But as always, we will keep you up to date on this exciting development for Sony's new baby.
