Sid Meier has turned from Pirates back to that which he created many years ago, Civilisation IV is to be the most detailed and capable God-sim to date. Packed with the original premise of world domination, either against the computer or other more human opponents, Civ IV also offers a tonne of new feature to sink your virtual teeth into.
With stunningly created three-dimensional worlds to explore, populated by a variety of cultures - each with unique units on offer for each cover, Civ IV also heralds the return of Wonder Movies! The interface too has had a redesign, with elements familiar to the RTS fans and those who enjoy an action related game, making hopping in and playing much easier. Combined with a from the ground up multiplayer structure, that allows for LAN and internet play to push your skills even further. Bolstered by an AI that if you leave or your connection drops, takes over until you return.
There is also Team-Play, choose a partner and sally forth to take a hold of the planet, with options to share Wonder Effects, what each unit sees, unit trading and more, yet another depth has been added. Further you can select from seven religions and control their spread, indulge in the XML based editor to create your own worlds, choose one of two leaders - each with their own abilities and bonuses. Pick hereditary rule, freedom of speech or not as you wish, follow units as they become stronger as you promote them to better skill sets even as you follow a flexible tech tree to domination.
Civilisation IV is coming to the PC later this month.
