21st October 2005:
Xbox 360 with your tea and coffee?
The first Xbox 360 demo pods have been deployed to Wal-marts in America, and we have the shots to prove it.
Posted by Chris Barnett - - UK and Europe

As the release date is little over a month now, it is a pleasure to announce that the first Xbox 360 demo pods have been deployed. But hold onto your bus tickets and car keys right there - it's only in America for the moment.

As out exclusive shots below show, the console is fully playable to all in Wal-Mart superstores. As Wal-Mart is the owner of ASDA here in the UK, it may be possible to witness the same thing in larger ASDA stores soon, although nothing has been confirmed by either Microsoft or Wal-Mart at the moment.

The game that is being demonstrated on all the pods is strangely Call of Duty 2, the sequel to the minor classic PC and console First-person-shooter. This comes as a surprise as it is not one of the 'killer' games that have been touted at recent conferences. We would have expected Perfect Dark Zero or Project Gotham 3 to be the showpieces, but the actual choice is not a bad one at all. The game looks amazing and plays quite well too, according to a snoop from America that we spoke to.

On a more homely note, the latest issue of FHM, the popular men's magazine, can be purchased with a special Joanna Dark cover. There is a standard version too, you know, with a real woman on the cover, but the Perfect Dark Zero heroine is much more likely to attract games fans. The shot comes after Lara Croft appeared on the cover of FACE magazine a few years ago. Could this indicate that Joanna is expected to finally get the recognition that she was restricted in the days of her 'expansion pak only' Nintendo 64 game? Let's hope so as the game looks so good too.

The issue in question is available at selected stores only, but we saw them in ASDA if that's a help.
