Prince get PSP'ed
Ubisoft's great Prince of Persia series is coming to the PSP in time for Christmas! Use the sands of time to carefully carve turkey...

Ubisoft has announced the official Prince of Persia title for the PSP, and it's the imaginative Prince of Persia Revelations. Developed by Pipeworks, the game builds on last year's console success, Prince of Persia Warrior Within, and features original content such as new puzzles, maps and redesigned levels (to take full account of the fact that 'smaller is better' on a handheld platform). The game takes combat to a higher level with new combos using melee weapons, projectiles, walls and more with the Free-Form Fighting system that worked so well in the 'big version. Players will be able to fight bosses in addition to all the puzzling and exploring; so don't worry that the game will be monotonous.

The game begins with a prophecy as an old man says to the Prince (presumably in a cut scene and grave old man voice), "Your fate has been written. You will die."
Obviously being the real tough guy that the prince is, he is quite against this and aims to do something about it (as you do). But he is also being hunted by the Dahaka, an immortal incarnation of Fate, almost like a fancy Grim Reaper. As you take control of the prince you must learn what to do in order to survive and redeem yourself against fate; learning many new abilities along the way.

The Free-Form Fighting System is the intricate new combat system (that was established in 'Warrior Within') makes its way to the PSP and allows gamers to wage battles in many crazy and exciting ways. Manipulate the environment and the enemies themselves to develop your own unique fighting style. Plus, an all-new projectile attack system allows for a variety of combat tactics, especially significant when clumped up on a smaller screen.

As the gimmick of the prince is now established as time manipulation, there will be no shortage of the 'Sky Digital-like' freeze framing and rewinding to perfect the game's combat and athletics.

Due in December this year, it will be very interesting to see how such a respected and complex combat system translates onto the smaller PSP. We look forwards to it nonetheless.
