Nintendo has always been keen to push their handheld-home console link in the past with peripherals such as the N64's Transfer Pak and the GameCube-GBA link-up cable, but now they seem to be going even further by actually allowing GameCube owners to play Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games. The Game Boy Player is a one-inch tall 'platform' that your GameCube will neatly sit on, features a cartridge drive that supports all the Game Boy cartridge types, and allows you to play all your favourite Game Boy games on a TV. Players will be able to use the GameCube controller or Wavebird wireless pad to play the games, or even connect the Game Boy Advance up (using the GBA link-up cable) to use it as a control pad too. "Game Boy Player means that you can now see your favourite Game Boy games larger than life. With over 1000 portable games to choose from, for the first time you can play classic titles like Tetris, or the brand new Metroid Fusion at home on your TV screen" said David Gosen, Managing Director, Nintendo of Europe. Unfortunately, it hasn't been confirmed whether you'll be able to play multiplayer GBA games using a split-screen TV mode and the GameCube's four controller ports, however we hope to have more solid details on this peripheral before it hits shop shelves, which is likely to be Summer 2003.
