Gaming information comes from some of the weirdest sources, especially if it emanates from Japan, and Nintendo aren't ones to break tradition. Instead of confirming the development of what could well turn out to be two of next year's greatest games in a big press event, or even a worldwide press release, they let it slip in an interview with the Japanese verison of Playboy magazine.
Shigeru Miyamoto, the man behind most of the Japanese company's best games, was the interviewee, and he told the publication that two of NCL's next big games would be a sequel to the excellent Pikmin and a new Mario game currently titled Mario 128. The latter title is said to be based on the 100 Marios technical demo which showed off the GameCube during its first public debut at SpaceWorld a couple of years ago, where there were 100 Marios running about simultaneously, interacting with one another. Mr. Miyamoto also stated that those unhappy with Mario Sunshine's lack of originality should be pleased about the 'newness' of Mario 128.
We're eagerly awaiting further details on both games, which we expect will appear in some form at next year's E3 show in March. In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled on our main page where we'll be reporting any further information leaks we get our grubby mits on.
