Sega Rally Championship screens
One of the greatest arcade rally franchises is coming to the Game Boy Advance - check out these first screenshots!

The Sega Rally games appeared at a time when realism wasn't an issue - they simply provided the most enjoyable and fast-paced racing experience possible. The first was simply a frantic race against the clock across four tracks, with only two cars (and one hidden one) to choose from, while the second opted for more cars, more tracks and a more substantial 12-year championship mode, giving the game loads of length over its arcade counterpart.
However, since the sequel's Dreamcast appearance, the Sega Rally franchise has seemingly gone into hiding. Fortunately, Sega Rosso, one of Sega's old internal developers, are showing an interest in rejuvenating the series by developing a new game for the Game Boy Advance.
While this may not be the platform of choice for many Sega Rally fans, don't dismiss it just yet. We already know that the little handheld is more than capable of providing some pretty respectable 3D graphics, and if Sega can get the handling and speed of the title just right then it could well be just as playable as it's larger cousins. If these screenshots are anything to go by, the GBA version seems to retain the graphical style of the older games, and seems to retain a lot of the familiar cars and tracks from Sega Rally 2. With any luck, it should be a great title to tide over fans until Sega Rally 3 on the PS2, Xbox or GameCube is announced.
