V-Rally 3 was one of the three main rally games to hit the PlayStation 2 this year, and it wasn't a bad effort. The graphics were great for the PS2, with a massive draw distance, smooth frame-rate and hardly any pop-up, and the game's 24 tracks were, for the most part, excellently modelled. However, Infogrames have now decided to port the game to the Xbox, where it will go head-to-head with what is generally agreed to be one of the best rally games in existance, Rallisport Challenge. Winning the battle isn't an impossibility, but the game's developers, Atari, will need to refine both graphics and gameplay if they plan on beating Microsoft's behemoth. Fortunately, these first screenshots from the Xbox version at least hint at progress, with some nice lighting effects giving proceedings a polished look. Expect more screens and details soon as the title's April 2003 release date gets closer.
