Burnout 2 on GameCube and Xbox!
Acclaim announces Burnout 2: Point of Impact for release on Microsoft's and Nintendo's consoles this spring.
Posted by John Grothier - Xbox,GameCube - UK and Europe

Acclaim have just confirmed that its award-winning, top selling racing title Burnout 2: Point of Impact will be making its way onto the Xbox and GameCube this coming spring. Since the release of the PlayStation 2 version last November the game has not left our own top ten chart, as we think that it is one of the best arcade racers - ever. Now the big question is, will the Xbox and GameCube versions be just a lacklustre port - or are they going to take full advantage of the might of these consoles?

'When we started out on the development for Burnout 2 we focused on bringing the fastest and most exciting racing experience to the PlayStation 2, and we had no plans to develop the game for other consoles,' commented Alex Ward, Creative Manager, Criterion Games.'We are a small but extremely talented team who has dedicated their time and energy on getting the absolute best out of the PlayStation 2. Since the release of the game, last October, we've been really bowled over by the number of awards and fantastic reviews that Burnout 2 has received across the world. We have also been absolutely deluged with requests from the media and consumers alike to develop versions for Xbox and Gamecube. It has been an incredible response.'

'So, we're really excited to be able to confirm to Xbox and Gamecube gamers, that they can look forward to Burnout 2 on their consoles this Spring. We'll be putting all the resources and dedication of the Burnout Team to make these the best driving games available for these consoles.'

Silicon Fusion will be keeping a close eye on Burnout 2: Point of Impact - we just hope that with the Xbox version you will be able to 'burn' your own soundtracks!
