Sega announces Sonic's Pinball Party
Ok, so the name could do with some work, but will this game recreate the same fun as Sonic Spinball did on the Megadrive?

Some of the best levels of the original Sonic games were the casino-based ones, where everything was styled like a massive pinball table, with flippers to propel Sonic into the air and even fruit machines that could be played to gain rings, so it was no surprise to see an entirely pinball-based Sonic game appear for the Megadrive back in 1993. Called Sonic Spinball, it saw Sonic bouncing through 4 zones collecting Chaos Emeralds and destroying some particularly nasty bosses, but despite gaining good reviews, the formula was never revived, until now...
Sonic Team's recently announced Sonic's Pinball Party uses the same concept of taking the traditional Sonic characters and putting them in a pinball game, although it's environments are less dark and more 'table based' than those seen in Spinball. Little information has actually been released about the game, other than that it will have support for up to four players (presumably using the GBA's link-up cable) and will be out this year in Japan. Also, one of the pinball tables in the game is based upon NiGHTs, to further tantalise fans of the Saturn game who are patiently waiting for a next-gen update.
These first screenshots, although small, show off some of the game's colourful graphics and complex tables. We hope to have more soon, once the game has been confirmed for Europe.
