Posted by Marc Hull - PlayStation 2 - UK and Europe The first Zone of the Enders may have been over-shadowed by Konami's other big game, Metal Gear Solid 2, but it was still a great game in its own right. Although some complained that it finished far too quickly, while it did last it was one of the most visually pleasing games to ever hit the console, with spectacular mid-air battles complemented by some incredible special effects. However, now Konami are beginning to unveil the sequel, subtitled 'The 2nd Runner', and it's already shaping up to better its predecessor in most areas! Already promised for the sequel are more weapons, moves and items, which include throwing moves, shield devices and teleportation systems. The game will also feature group fights, improving upon the original's simple one-on-one confrontations. Add to this a weath of new lighting and particle effects, as well as even more interaction with the environment, and you could well be looking at one of the PS2's big titles for this year. Whether The 2nd Runner will improve on the length problems of the original remains to be seen, but this is certainly looking like a promising game, and we hope to have further screens and details closer to its tentative Spring release date.
