First shots of Cy Girls
Check out Konami's new female duo in these first screens of their latest shoot-'em-up for the PlayStation 2.

There was a time, not so long ago, when almost every games character was male, and the mere thought of having a female star never made it past the drawing board. However, since Lara Croft's antics appeared on the PlayStation, developers have finally seen the light, and realised that female characters have a big advantage in a male-dominated market; sex appeal. Now, though, it seems as if everyone is trying to get a slice of the market by launching their own heroines, and today we got to take a look at Konami's latest offering in the form of Cy Girls on the PlayStation 2.

While the name may make it sound more like an 8 year-olds cartoon than something aimed at the teenage-to-twenties market, the game itself revolves around two female Cy Girl operatives, Sky and Shadow, who each have different abilities and attributes to help them complete their missions in very different ways. The former, Sky, is trained in long-range weaponry, so can take enemies out from a distance, while Shadow is more of a ninja, capable of close-range combat and stealth. However, both share the unusual ability of being able to 'dive' into the Internet and download new fighting techniques throughout the game that will help them in their quest to bring criminals to justice.

It certainly sounds like a unique concept, and these screenshots show that it's already looking quite tasty. We hope to have further shots and details closer to the game's release this Summer, so keep your eyes on our main page!
