While there have been games based upon almost every thinkable concept, and many developers simply try to rehash popular genres, every so often a title appears that offers a glimmer of originality. Restaurant Empire is one of those, offering players the chance to build their own restaurants in three major cities around the world (Paris, Los Angeles and Rome) and then compete against other restaurants in a fight for fame and recognition in the culinary world.
Now, you might be thinking that this is just another strategy game like Theme Park or Beach Life just with restaurants instead of amuzement parks, but it actually promises to introduce a whole new role-playing game style into the mix. You'll have to aquire some of the 37 chefs on offer and then train them up to cook some of the 200+ recipes in the game. You can also add your own personal touch to a restaurant with over 300 decorative items to be used and 5 different 'themes' to choose from.
With a campaign mode where you take part in a worldwide culinary adventure consisting of 18 scenarios, secret recipes to be obtained from master chefs and the option to let your imagination run wild and create your own restaurant chain from scratch in the sandbox mode, Restaurant Empire certainly seems to offer the right stuff. These first screenshots also show some nice 3D graphics which include story-advancing cut-scenes and a nice, clear interface.
The game has certainly tantilised our taste buds so far, and we hope to bring you more information about it closer to its March release date!
