SEGA have just announced that they are developing The King of Route 66 exclusively for the PlayStation 2. The King of Route 66 will challange gamers to 'haul ass', as they like to put it, across the U.S. in their own nitro-powered 18-wheeler, in the ultimate white-knuckled road trip that takes place from Illinois to California. While hauling, the evil Tornado Corporation and their army of goons will try to hinder the player, who must fend them off to become the king of the road and win the hearts of the seductive Queens of Route 66.

The King of Route 66 is loaded with rizzly outlaw truckers, customizable vechicles and mini games as well as the mission-based gameplay. Expect more than 40 colourful characters in massive 'living levels' with multiple ways to complete each mission objective.

'I've never taken a caffeine-fueled, demolition derby-style road trip across the U.S. in an 18-wheeler to win the hearts of eight beautiful women, but if I had, I bet it would be just like 'The King of Route 66,' said Mike Fischer, of SEGA. 'An over-the-top arcade-style romp through America's Heartland, 'The King of Route 66' delivers cathartic thrills and high-octane action.'
