Microsoft has just announced that a sequel to the hit freestyle snowboarder Amped is to be released for the Xbox at the end of the year. Amped 2 will feature a huge trick library and will allow the player to explore vast areas of wide-open, spectacularly rendered real mountains - packed with terrain parks designed by world-famous snow park architect, Chris Gunnarson. Players will not only be able to play head-to-head with friends - Amped 2 will be Live enabled, so now you can show off your skills online. Amped 2 promises to simulate the life of a real pro snowboarder, allowing the player to travel the world showing sponsors, photographers, and fans your slick tricks.
Amped 2 will feature multiple multi-player modes via split-screen, LAN, or Xbox Live. Multiple multi-player challenges, both individual and team-based, will be included; go head-to-head with a friend or challenge up to 7 others in a game of 'Horse'. Play a game of 4 versus 4 with 'King of the Mountain' - where each team must pull off the sweetest tricks - on many different rails and ramps as you run down the mountain. Amped 2 takes all the moves from Amped and adds new aerial tricks, advanced grabs, a full set of styled-out rail slides, tweaks, stalls, and hand and foot plants, and introduces "butter", the center of a new combo system that allows nose and tail manuals to link tricks together. On Xbox Live players will be able to find out who's the best with regional and worldwide ladders and rankings, and Live players can even trade replays and download new content including mountains, gear, challenges and music. Amped 2 will feature the addition of new mountains including Laax, Switzerland, Mt. Buller in Australia, and heli-riding Harris Mountain in New Zealand, and Microsoft promise fully rendered 3D environments with attention to detail that includes clouds casting moving shadows over the mountains. Amped 2 will also feature fourteen of the top pros including Jeremy Jones, Mikey LeBlanc, Travis Parker and Janna Meyen.
Silicon Fusion will keep you up-to date with this exciting Live enabled title; but in the meantime we have the first batch of screens for you.
