First Ikaruga screens
The hit 'import only' Dreamcast shooter blasts onto the GameCube.
Posted by John Grothier - GameCube - UK and Europe

Atari have just announced that they will be releasing the hit 'import-only' Japanese shooter Ikaruga on Nintendo's GameCube this coming May. Ikaruga is a frantic scrolling space shooter, which gives the player the option of either a vertical or horizontal display. The game is set in 2D, against a stunning 3D backdrop, and combines fast and furious action with rich Japanese storytelling.

'There is a growing fan-base for Ikaruga since its release in Japan and Infogrames has recognised that the hardcore gamers have been waiting for this arcade style version to be released for a console,' said Pascale Vermeerbergen, European Marketing Director. 'Ikaruga has some of the best graphics ever featured in a "shoot'em up" action game and we are convinced that this title will be as huge in Europe as it has been in Japan'.
