Sega have just announced that Sega GT Online is currently in development and will bring the thrills of a realistic driving game for Xbox online via Xbox Live. Sega GT Online will allow up to six gamers to put their cars and driving skills to the ultimate test against players from around the world. Sega promise to blend simulation with high-octane arcade action, and allow players to qualify for licenses, compete in a series of increasingly competitive races and earn money to soup up their rides and buy newer, more powerful cars. Sega GT Online will feature more than 160 cars from vintage roadsters from the 50s, 60s and 70s to the latest prototypes from more than 20 of the world's biggest manufacturers. Online gamers can trade or bet their hard-earned cars and parts with other online players, while trading insults as they race.
''Sega GT Online,' takes racing for pink slips to a whole new level,' said Mike Fischer, of Sega. 'If you think you've got what it takes to be the best, you can put your hard-earned car on the line and square off with thousands of gamers online via Xbox Live. Hey, if you lose big you can always talk trash - or grovel and beg for your car back.'
Sega GT Online is scheduled for release this coming winter, but until then we have these early shots showing head-to-head racing.
