Project Gotham 2 screens (E3 2003)
We've got a fresh batch of screens from Microsoft's massive racing sequel - check out some of the new cars and environments.
Posted by Marc Hull - Xbox - UK and Europe

The original Project Gotham Racing, which launched with the Xbox, was a great racer with tonnes of tracks, loads of licenced cars and, amazingly considering how tight car manufacturers are with their 'image', realistic damage effects. However, while graphically it was still good, it was always limited by being an update to Metropolis Street Racer, using the same track models, albeit with improved textures and better weather effects. To truly see what the Xbox is capable of, Bizarre Creations needed to rebuild the game from the ground up, which is exactly what they've been able to do with the sequel.

PGR2 will contain all-new environments, set in Barcelona, Chicago, Florence, Moscow and Edinburgh, plus all-new cars, each maticulously modelled in the finest detail and complete with those ever-so-nice realtime damage effects seen in the first game. Already confirmed for the game are the Enzo Ferrari, Porsche GT2, BMW Z4, Pontiac GTO, Ferrari Dino GT, Mini Cooper S and the Porsche Cayenne Turbo, and all are looking absolutely superb if these new screenshots are any indication. Yep, this title is shaping up to be absolutely gorgeous, and with a refined Kudos system plus online races across Xbox Live, there's no doubt that when this goes head-to-head with Sony's GT4 this Christmas it's gonna be one hell of a fight!
