First Colin McRae Rally 4 details (E3 2003)
Although mysteriously not making a PC appearance, Colin's back for Xbox and PlayStation 2 with a load of new features.

Despite Colin's recent rallying efforts failing to put him top of the championship and rumours that he wants to leave the profession he is famous for, the games which feature his name are apparently performing better than ever, and now Codemasters are gearing up to release yet another instalment, which will be the fourth in the series. Whereas in previous episodes you've taken on the role of the ex-world champion and followed him through the season, this time the emphasis will be on building up your own team, making important decisions, buying car parts and testing cars as well as the all-important winning of races.

Colin McRae Rally 4 will contain all-new international rally courses spread over 8 countries, including UK, Finland, Australia and America. There will also be over 20 vehicles, which will range from 4-wheel rally cars to classic cars as well as some hidden secrets. As well as the standard Championship mode, you'll be able to create your own rallies in the Custom Rally mode, or if you're feeling ambitious even take on the Expert Championship. All modes feature multiplayer gaming, with two players for the PS2 version and four for the Xbox. You'll even be able to team up with a friend and play through a championship cooperatively!

All-in-all, the Colin McRae series certainly sounds as if it's heading in the right direction, and these E3 screenshots are showing some pretty impressive graphics. The only slight disappointment so far is the lack of a PC version; making this the first instalment not to appear on PC. However, for Xbox and PlayStation 2 owners, this is certainly going to be one to look out for when it's released this Winter.
