GameCube goes Pokemon mad (E3 2003)
Not one or two but three titles from Nintendo's ever-successful Pokemon series will be gracing the console in the coming months.

Pokemon is definitely a very important franchise to Nintendo, having kept their money-pot growing after a successful TV series, some films and some of the biggest selling Game Boy and N64 games the world has ever seen. So, it's little surprise then to see it being rejuvinated for the GameCube, and having a presence at this year's E3 show. The only surprise is the sheer quantity; not content with just showing off one new game, Nintendo has announced three, each of which uses the Pokemon brand in a different way.
Pokemon Box
This will probably appeal most to hardcore fans of the new Game Boy Advance titles, Ruby and Sapphire, as it is basically an extension to them. Using the GC-GBA link-up cable, players will be able to manage and view their captured monsters, as well as store up to 1,500 of them on a GameCube memory card, which is three times as much as the GBA carts will hold, allowing you to build up larger collections. You'll also be able to play through Ruby and Sapphire on a TV screen (although you must already own the original GBA cartridges to play this game at all).
Pokemon Channel
The relationship between the Pokemon games and the TV series' has always been kept fairly distant, but this game is more orientated to the cartoons than Nintendo's original Pokemon world. The idea is that the Pokemon TV station has lost segments of their most popular show, and it's up to players to find and return them. To do this, you must enlist the help of Pikachu, and complete various puzzles. Every so often, you'll find a new TV clip and be able to watch it, including never-before-seen footage featuring the Pichu Bros. You'll also be able to colour-in stills from the TV series, find and collect 3D "NiceCards" and play a virtual version of Pokemon Mini.
Pokemon Colosseum
This will probably be the most attractive title to gamers, as it is essentially a sequel to the Pokemon Stadium games on the N64. By using the GC-GBA link-up cable, players can download and view over 200 monsters from Ruby and Sapphire, then send them into full-3D battles with one-another. Up to four players can join in, or you can go on a single-player quest to complete various tournaments against CPU-opponents and become the best Pokemon trainer in the world.
Aside from a wealth of screens from each of the above games, we've also got E3 videos from both Channel and Colosseum which are available below for you viewing pleasure. Don't forget to check back soon for more information!
