Good vs Evil may not be the most imaginative of plots, but that isn't stopping Konami from pushing it to the extreme in their latest title, Apocalyptica. Satan is standing on the cusp of Universal domination, with his unholy troops swarming across the galaxy, and it's up to you to stand in his way - or stand by him. By choosing either one of sixteen good guys or one of sixteen bad guys you assume the quest of either vanquishing evil or helping it.
Taking the shape of a third-person action-adventure game, Apocalyptica sounds like it shares a fair bit in common with titles like Soul Reaver. Each level requires the player to complete a new challenge, whether its retrieving key items or performing specific duties while simultaneously fending off the advances of the rival faction. Perhaps the most promising bit of the game, though, is the multiplayer aspect, with the developers, Extreme FX, offering both LAN and online support through Xbox Live. Through a series of deathmatch or mission-related quests, up to 8 players can fight it out across the Internet, making this Konami's first Xbox Live enabled title in Europe.
With Xbox Live being as good as it is, any game that supports it gets a thumbs-up in our book. We hope to have further details on Apocalyptica closer to its September release, but until then why not check out these new screenshots?
