25th March 2004:
The Sims 2
We take a look at one of the most eagerly-awaited PC sequels of the year.
Posted by John Grothier - PC - UK and Europe

The Sims 2 is one of the most eagely-awaited sequels of 2004, and this coming September PC gamers will be able to use the new Sims 2 Body Shop. Here players will be able to ustomize almost any part that can be used to build a Sim. Anything's possible, from highlighted hair, to tattoos, to crazy shirts and jeans. So with thousands of combinations available gamers will be able show off their creations on the soon-to-come The Sims 2 Exchange.

Using the Sims 2 Body Shop will allow you to create Sims just the way you want them to look. In addition to all the designing of skins, clothing, and cosmetic options, you will be able to also customize your Sims' facial features using 50 different modifiers. The result of all this is truly unique Sims that you can bring into the game or share with others.

In the Sims 2 the player will get the chance to control their Sims over an entire lifetime for the first time in the series. Every choice that is made has a relevant and dramatic effect on the life of a Sim. More life-like Sims, all-new gameplay, and the ground-breaking addition of genetics, with the DNA of Sims passed down through generations gives players a more vivid, realistic, and in-depth Sims experience. All of this takes place in a new, amazingly life-like 3-D world thanks to an all-new graphics engine.

Players will be able to guide their Sims throught 'Life's Big Moments' with some of the series typical humour. Players now get a "Life Score" which is a direct reflection of the life they choose to live with their individual Sim. The decisions that players make throughout the lifetime of their Sims now have an impact on the ultimate outcome. A choice made as a toddler has a direct effect on the teen and adult Sims they become. Players be able to lead their Sims through such important events as a first step, first crush, or marriage proposal, all while the clock is ticking.

The Sims this time around are a more intelligent, and are more aware and responsive to both other Sims and their surroundings. Sims truly come to life expressing moods and feelings through more realistic body animations and, for the first time, life-like facial animations. They are able to form complex relationships and are also able to distinguish between family and friends, platonic friendships and romantic love. These Sims also have DNA, and they will naturally pass along physical characteristics and traits to their offspring, Sims both resemble and behave like their ancestors. Mirroring real life, the appearance of the Sims now change over time. In addition to getting older, Sims that spend too much time on the couch will develop a paunch and Sims that work out will enjoy a fitter look.

The Sims 2 will feature an entirely new 3-D engine makes the world of The Sims 2 more life-like and dynamic. And with the inclusion of the all-new 'Create-A-Sim' feature players will loose many hours customizing their creations. Also players will be able to build dwellings over two stories and have the ability to coordinate and customize the homes of their Sims to a new degree of design with all-new furniture, lighting and objects.

We will bring you much more on The Sims 2 on Silicon Fusion very soon, but until then we have these brand-new screenshots showing off the Sims in action.
