Colin McRae Rally 2005 is the latest in this rally franchise from developers, Codemasters. Due for release this autumn for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, gamers can now race online for up to 8 players - for both consoles.
Codemasters have included an all-new Career Challenge, which takes players through a full professional rally career, driving the most diverse selection of rally cars. An awesome 23 individual rally events will keep would-be racers driving for hours. Each of these events will provide a personal challenge with real progression and rewards through a non-linear series of Challenges, Cups, SuperCups, Shields and Championships as you earn the right to complete with the very best.
Through these 23 events, racers will take part in a staggering 300+ stages driving cars from 4-wheel drive, 2-wheel drive, 4-wheel Classics, Super 2-wheel, Rear Wheel, Distinctive and 4x4 classics. Beyond the Career Challenge, there's a toy box of rally-fuelled adrenaline racing gaming with its 4WD Championship, Rally, Stages and Online gaming modes.
Colin McRae Rally 2005 is already looking stunning, and the developers have been hard at work making this version of the game something really special. There will be an all-new bonnet-cam and an improved chase cam gives a real sensation of speed and undulation. As well as some stunning scenery, 9 international locations will be included in the game. The new German rally joins events through UK, Sweden, USA, Finland, Australia, Spain, Greece, and Japan. Colin McRae Rally 2005 will feature enhanced damage and scenery visuals that wll include new individual damage models for each car and should you crash into a tree, the detail is such that it will shudder and even drop leaves.
There are 30+ cars in the game, these will include the Volkswagen Golf MK5, Toyota Celica VVTLi, Lancia Stratos, Alfa Romeo 147 GTA, Alfetta GTV Turbodelta, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII, Peugeot 206, 205 T16 Evo2 and the distinctive VW Beetle RSi. The cars themselves have incredible amounts of detail. Each has an individual damage model for each and every car - right down to paintwork scrapes and a 'dazed' visual effect as you recover from a crash. There is also realistic collision reactions that include bending and breaking posts as well as potholes, loose rocks and other on-stage hazards to try to avoid.
Colin McRae Rally 2005 is shaping up to be something rally special (sorry) and with the inclusion of online play for both systems, it may well challlange RalliSport Challange 2 for the top rally spot.
