Posted by John Grothier - PlayStation 2,Xbox,PC - UK and Europe

Developers Crystal Dynamics' new first-person shooter is already looking like something very special indeed. Players are invited to experience the dramatic intensity of the frontlines of a war through the eyes of the first of a new breed of super soldiers, in this gritty and epic pure action title. Live the fantasy of being an elite special operations combat soldier with access to the most high-tech weaponry, gadgets and vehicles, all presented with the realism, emotional intensity, and valour found in the ever-popular FPS genre.

Project: Snowblind is set in a near future Hong Kong, the year is 2065. 2nd Lt. Nathan Frost is just a regular grunt until he volunteers for a super-soldier transformation for an international army called the Liberty Coalition. A painful series of surgeries gives Frost extra-normal abilities via implanted enhancements, which place him on the frontlines of a war against a destructive regime. After a military coup leaves him stranded in hostile territory and cut off from command with only a handful of men, Frost must stop the militia's secret weapon that threatens to plunge the world into darkness.

Project: Snowblind features a robust online multiplayer experience with 16 players and voice over IP support - classic and new multiplayer modes are offered, including some modes uniquely designed for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox. This FPS features an arsenal of unique weapons and secondary items including the Riot Wall and the interesting sounding 'Kicker' physics gun, which yields a variety and depth of gameplay never before realized, especially when leveraged in multiplayer play.

Snowblind also includes some vehicles which serve as 'functional obstacle solving tools', like rescue attempts, and also as weapons in both single and multiplayer gameplay. This first-person shooter also features the use of 'Biomods' to help customize, upgrade and exploit the superhuman powers of your character, and as you play throught the game you will build an emotional connection to your comrades in battle. During the missions you have the power to rescue, heal and protect them, but neglect their cries for help and view with shame their names on the 'War Memorial Wall' at the end of the game. This FPS has a wide variety in mission pacing ranging from frenetic action of battlefield chaos to tactical infiltration style missions. The game includes 11 missions spanning across 16 maps from the dilapidated Opera House, the twisting jungle at the city perimeter, a Buddhist Temple converted, and sprawling urban Wastelands.

snow-blind´ (snó bl?nd´)

We'll bring you much more on Project: Snowblind as we get it.
