Ubisoft have announced that later this year that Prince of Persia 3 (a working title) the third instalment in the series will be released with even more innovation than before. Picking up from where the previous two chapters left off, PoP3 is set to released across the main gaming systems and has been billed as providing a healthy chunk of plot twists and gut wrenching action to keep old hands happy and new devotees hooked to their pads.

John Parkes, Ubisoft's EMEA Director of Marketing was understandably chuffed. "Prince of Persia® 3 promises to be THE best instalment in the legendary franchise," he said. "By combining two playable characters in a masterly balanced gameplay, with the perfect mix of acrobatic moves and a compelling storyline, the Prince of Persia will appeal to both Sands of Time and Warrior Within fans alike. The Prince is back to reclaim his kingdom, and he has a few surprises in store…"

The Prince is returning to his Kingdom of Babylon after the trials on the Island of Time. His true love, Kaileena by his side and things are looking well. Sadly his land is ravaged by war and he finds that the populace has turned against him, for as he sets foot once more upon its soil he is captured and Kaileena makes the agonising choice of self-sacrifice in order to release once more the Sands of Time, the one way her beloved may free himself and fight his enemy.

The Dark Prince. A creation of the Prince's own past battles and struggles, a spirit that is hungry for the Prince and slowly, begins to consume his very essence even as they become locked in a titanic struggle to decide who is who.

This time round you get to play and master two distinct and different warriors with their own styles of combat that is even more freely derived than before. Pick your strategy to defeat each enemy, be it from a distance, with sharp swordplay or even as a ghost on the wind as you one-shot kill them before they even know you re there. Further, battle all throughout Babylon, on the rooftops through the streets and the underground caverns, all the while dodging those who wish to hinder your progression through their areas. Once again, command the powers of time to aid your struggle, rewind, slow and morph the fabric of reality to overcome armies if need be as you follow through the intense puzzles and story driven plot that will once more decide your destiny and the destiny of the land you love and have been exiled from for so long.

Prince of Persia 3 is set for a release in the latter half of this year but people will be able to gain an early peak at this years E3 show, next month in Los Angeles.
