29th October 2002:
James Bond 007: NightFire
We take a good look at EA's latest James Bond game - NightFire.
Posted by John Grothier - Xbox - UK and Europe

In James Bond 007: NightFire players will be knee deep in excitement and intrigue as Electronic Arts promises the most complete James Bond game yet. All-new scenarios and a brand new graphics engine from id Software will help deliver a completely original storyline that takes the player to some of the most exotic locations ever seen in a console game.

As Bond, players will operate in the high altitudes Austrian Alps and a zero-gravity space station as well as underwater in the South Pacific in order to defeat the evil criminal mastermind Rafael Drake, who is bent on ruling the world. (Just for a change). NightFire promises a very deep playing experience that although completely original, will still stay true to the Bond universe.

NightFire is primarily a first person shooter, but there will be times when the game switches to a new dynamic third person perspective, in order to show interactive moments and dramitic scenes. Expect furious action combined with stealth, gorgeous women, exotic locales, and sophisticated spy-craft gadgetry that Bond fans expect. And if that was not enough, NightFire will feature some outrageous driving sequences featuring some wonderfully exotic vehicles and furious split-screen multi-player action.

James Bond 007: NightFire will feature a cast of new and familiar characters from the Bond universe, including Zoe Nightshade (from EA's previous Bond game, James Bond 007 in Agent Under Fire). NightFire will also, for the first time, include the likeness of Pierce Brosnan himself as the swarve secret agent keeping the British end up! Players can blast their way through each of the levels, or go for a more stealthily approach making use of spycraft tricks and gadgets from Q-lab to accomplish mission objectives. Bond will have use of his multi-purpose wrist watch, Q-Vision enhancement glasses, a Q-camera, a PDA data hacker, and an increadbly fun sounding cartridge fired pen dart. Additionally Bond will make use of all-new steallhy sniper weapons, full automatic assault rifles, high damage rocket and grenade launchers. Specially disguised ambush weapons such as the 'Sentry Suitcase Turret', and the always welcome remote activated Q-bombs will help James Bond to defeat the diabolical Drake and save the world.

Staff here at Silicon Fusion are said to be shaken and stirred by the news of NightFire!
