Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee
Infogrames and Atari are letting Godzilla loose onto the Xbox in the ultimate mutiplayer monster fest!
Posted by John Grothier - Xbox - UK and Europe

Infogrames and developer Atari are bringing the hit GameCube title Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee onto the Xbox this spring. Based on the classic 'B' movie characters created by the Toho Company, the game recreates the look and feel of these titanic cult icons. Players can punch, kick, stomp, throw and blast each other in massive, city-wide arenas - that are based on real life cities from around the globe. The hit GameCube version was awarded "Runner-up" for the Best Fighting Game of 2002 at E3 last year, and we are promised that the Xbox version will not be just another lacklustre port.

The game features a single-player Adventure Mode as well as four additional styles of play; Versus Mode, one monster takes on another in an epic battle; Destruction Mode, two mosters try to inflict as much damage to your chosen city as possible within a given time limit; Survival Mode, the players chosen monster must fight wave-upon-wave of enemies; and Melee Mode; the ultimate monster multiplayer slugfest for one-to-four players!

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee will give the player a real sense of epic scope and scale, with 10 massive real-world and fantasy fighting arenas that include San Francisco, Tokyo, London and the infamous Monster Island. Each of these cities and fighting arenas are in full 3D and are totally interactive; monsters can pick up and throw buildings at each other, hurl other monsters onto fuel tanks or stomp all over famous landmarks. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee will also feature some hidden, unlockable areas only to be found on the Xbox version of the game. Each of the cities have been created with staggering attention to detail; working traffic lights, blinking neon signs, cars, buses and trucks move around the city while you fight over them.

More than 10 licensed monsters, each modeled from the movie franchise, appear in the game including Godzilla 90's, Mechagodzilla, Megalon, Destoroyah, King Ghidorah, Mothra and many more. Each monster can kick, punch, jump, block and each has a special projectile attack. For hardcore gamers a robust combo system along with special attacks unique to each creature are included with abilities from the original movies. New features for the Xbox version include a new monster - Mechagodzilla 3, from the latest Godzilla film from Japan. New arenas will be included such as the Vortaak Home World, an alien planet that will feature some new challanges like volcanoes, spaceship launchers, installation-protection missiles, as well as plenty of alien structure to throw around. Another new arena will be the Boxing Ring, here you can slug it out in the biggest boxing ring in the world, complete with ropes, bells and blimps. The Xbox version will also feature New Computer AI, so now one gamer can take on a four player melee or a team game against the Xbox. Other Xbox-only features will include a new single player Destruction Mode, improved framerate, better graphics and soundtrack support - so now you can choose your own music to stomp to!

Silicon Fusion will be looking forward to reviewing Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee soon, but in the mean time enjoy these monster screenshots!
