20th February 2003:
Battle Engine Aquila
Devastating climatic changes trigger a global crisis, and you must take part in an epic, global battle to save the planet.
Posted by John Grothier - Xbox - UK and Europe

When a sudden climatic change triggers a crisis of global proportions, the world is brought to its knees, as old enemies are thrown together. The world has been left with just a series of islands, as rising water levels and floods have left only the highest ground above water. Land value is now almost priceless, and tensions between the surviving nations are increasing as they fight for the swollen population of the planet. You must pilot the fearsome Battle Engine Aquila, a behemoth war machine and the single most destructive unit on the battlefield, capable of patrolling from the ground or attacking from the air. This is the final battle, a major war, with thousands of units engaged on each side, ranging from infantry to tanks, planes, battleships and artillery.

In Battle Engine Aquila the player must fight upon vast battlefields as a war rages between the two opposing forces - the Forseti and the Muspell. As you take control of the biggest 'gun' in a planet-wide shoot-out, allied and enemy forces will be battling it out all around the player. You can choose to work with your allied friends or go it alone - the choice is yours. Players see the ravished world through the eyes of Hawk, who is the pilot of the prototype Battle Engine, Codenamed Aquila. The Battle Engine will fight on, and over photo-realistic battlefields as the two warring factions fight it out. Have you got what it takes to lead your nation to victory?

Battle Engine Aquila promises complex battlefields, with thousands of allied and enemy units fighting over stunning landscapes. The player will be able to choose which strategy they wish to employ on each level of the game, and we are promised addictive, arcade style gameplay, as well as two-player multiplayer modes in which you can take each other on in set battle pieces. An in-depth plot will follow the development of our hero, Hawk, as he fights his way through the war. Battle Engine Aquila boasts a battle of such size, scope and scale that has never been seen before!

Silicon Fusion will have a full review of Battle Engine Aquila very soon, but until then we have managed to get some screenshots of the Battle Engine in action!
