Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Engage in a saga set in the Golden Age of the Republic - over 4,000 years before the first Star Wars film, when both Jedi and Sith number in the thousands.

Activision and LucasArts are set to release a massive Star Wars RPG this spring for Microsoft's Xbox. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is set some 4,000 years prior to the timeframe of all the Star Wars films, in an era dominated by epic conflicts between the Jedi and the evil Sith. So defiantly no Jar Jar Binks then. Developed by BioWare, the people behind the highly acclaimed Baldur's Gate series, Knights of the Old Republic will feature an engaging story, striking art and animation styles, and character development that will bring alive the Star wars universe onto your Xbox.

In Knights of the Old Republic players will be able to create a character of their own, or choose a ready-made character with all abilities and feats already set up. Warriors, scouts and scoundrels will be available as the basic character templates to choose from. The warrior is obviously more suited to hand-to-hand combat, whereas the scoundrel is more suited to solving problems, and the scout is finely balanced between the two. Your chosen character will have the usual RPG abilities such as strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence, wisdom and charisma. Other skills will become apparent as your character progress through the game and builds up an impressive collection of 'feats' that will be linked to character class.

The Force, as you would expect in an in-depth Star Wars game, plays a huge part in the direction of the story and your character. Conversations, and actions with the NPC's you encounter will either count for the Light or the Dark side of The Force. Sometimes it will be obvious which action will result in nudging your character one way or the other, but sometime the repercussions of your actions may come back to haunt you later on in the game. Players will not be told what are the good and evil choices to make; you will have to work that one out by yourself. In Knights, you may have up to two characters to join you in your adventure. The party can consist of Droids, Twi'leks, Wookiees and other species that you will encounter while on one of the ten planets in the universe. You can visit Tatooine, the Sith world of Korriban, the Jedi Academy on Dantooine and the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyk, to name but a few. Travel to other systems in the Ebon Hawk, your ship, where any party members not needed will be stored along with extra equipment and items found in the game. We have also heard from Activison that there will be some downloadable content on Xbox Live, items and skins will become available upon the release of Knights.

Silicon Fusion will be looking forward to reviewing what could turn out to be the RPG of the year. But in the meantime May these screens be with you!
